Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride
Rick Day

Rick was born in Hamilton, Ontario and presently resides in Kemptville, Ontario and works in Ottawa, He is self-taught on motorcycles from way back before courses, and then, while posted to the 1 PPCLI in Calgary, became Instructor trained. Rick spent countless hours on the Military Motorcycles training both the infantry and MP on riding techniques.
Rick has owned a variety of motorcycles throughout his riding experience; he first learned to ride on a Honda 125 CC, then moved up to a Honda V45 Magna 750CC, then he thought he would scare himself with a Kawasaki Ninja 750 ZXR. After coming to his senses, he rode Yamaha Virago 750 CC, and then added a second bike, a Honda Shadow American Classic Edition (ACE) 750 CC and finally settling on his present Motorcycle a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1500 FI.
Rick has always ridden motorcycles, from the cold days of Goose Bay to the hot days in Greece and Europe. Rick is presently married and although his wife Sharon also has a passion to learn to ride and Rick has kept his Yamaha Virago in waiting. Rick is presently serving in the Canadian Forces (31 years) at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and is presently the Military Police Branch Chief Warrant Officer working with the Canadian Forces Provost Marshal. Although Rick works in Ottawa he is still a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs Fan – GO LEAS GO
Rick could not participate in last years ride as he represented the Military Police Branch at the First Annual “Ride for Heroes” day in London, ON honouring Corporal Matthew Dinning Memorial. Corporal Matthew Dinning and Corporal Randy Payne, were Military Policemen who lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan in April 2006.
